Ask a Cub Scout you know about Cub Scouting. See if it sounds like fun to you. If it does, tell him you would like to come to a den meeting and ask him for the name and phone number of his den leader.

 

If you don't know any Cub Scouts, locate one of the Cubmasters near where you live listed on Cub Scout Packs page of this website or contact the Marion Scout Store at 740-389-4615 and they will give you the names and phone numbers of a Cubmasters in your area.

Call the Cubmaster and tell him that you want to be a Cub Scout. Ask him when the next den meeting is and make arrangements to attend.  

Attend the den meeting and participate in the activities. If you enjoy the experience and decide you would like to join, tell your parents.  Your parents needs to know that being a Cub Scout is a family activity and they may need to attend some of the meetings. If they have questions, they can talk to the den leader about it.

 

Call your den leader after you get your parent or guardian's permission to join. The den leader will tell you when the next den meeting is, how much the yearly dues are and what kind of uniform you should buy. If you can't afford to buy a uniform, he may have a used uniform that you could have.

Attend the next Cub Scout meeting, complete any needed paperwork from your den leader and pay your yearly dues.

 You can purchase a Cub Scout uniform from your nearest Boy Scout store or the Boy Scouts of America online or retail catalog. Make sure you buy the right numbers to display your correct pack number and den number on your uniform. If you go to the store, a clerk will help you with this.
