Ask a Boy Scout you know about Boy Scouting. See if it sounds like fun to you. If it does, tell him you would like to come to a Scout meeting and ask him for the name and phone number of his Assistant Scoutmaster.

 

If you don't know any Boy Scouts, locate one of the Scoutmasters near where you live. They are listed on the Boy Scout Troops page of this website or contact the Marion Scout Store at 740-389-4615 and they will give you the names and phone numbers of a Scoutmasters in your area.

Call the Scoutmaster and tell him that you want to be a Boy Scout. Ask him when the next Scout meeting is and make arrangements to attend.  

Attend the Scout meeting and participate in the activities. If you enjoy the experience and decide you would like to join, tell your parents.  Your parents need to know that being a Boy  Scout is a family activity and they may need to attend some of the meetings.  If they have questions, they can talk to the Assistant Scoutmaster or Scoutmaster about it.

 

Call your Assistant Scoutmaster or Scoutmaster after you get your parent or guardian's permission to join.

Attend the next Boy Scout meeting, complete any needed membership paperwork given to you by your Assistant Scoutmaster or Scoutmaster and pay your yearly dues. 

You can purchase a Boy Scout uniform from your nearest Boy Scout store or the Boy Scouts of America online or retail catalog. Make sure you buy the right numbers to display your correct pack number and den number on your uniform. If you go to the store, a clerk will help you with this.
